College: Abu Dhabi Women's College
Since I was little I was always eager to accomplish something. I knew I was into arts and fashion so my journey started in 1996 when I had my first computer which also had an internet connection. I explored and learned so much. I had software installed in the computer and had a blast creating imagery that was admired by many.
When it was time to choose my major in college I chose applied media studies because it was in the creative field and that’s what I was looking for. I graduated with a higher diploma in graphic design then went back for my bachelor’s and recently I received my master’s in the Arts and Creative Industries, also at HCT.
While I was still a student in 2001 I produced seven digital paintings inspired by the late shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the former ruler of the UAE. The artworks sold out in no time and in 2002 I produced a collection of digital artworks that were part of an exhibition in 2003 at Abu Dhabi Beach Rotana hotel, beside some of the leading Emirati Artists. Since then I haven’t stopped producing art. Moreover, I began curating art exhibitions in 2007, which I still do and will continue to do as long as I am in the Arts.
In 2004 I established my store Grafika. It was a gift store until 2009 when I added fashion to it and in 2011 I established my own fashion line SEEN.
Winner of L’officiel Arab Woman Awards Abu Dhabi 2013 for best fashion designer and most stylish
Winner of Emirates Woman ‘Woman of the Year 2011’ and Emirates Woman ‘Achiever of the Year 2011’ I was awarded the regional award of Petrochem GR8! Women Awards for the fields of art and fashion
I was the only Emirati chosen by Olay Arabia for their’ Olay Total 7 Effects’ campaign as an ambassador I was chosen as a hot100 by Ahlan! for two consecutive years 2011 and 2012, but my streak of awards all began in 2010 when I won best new talent at the Arab Woman awards.
My boutique Grafika was short listed for best independent multi brand boutique in Abu Dhabi by TimeOut Abu Dhabi. During the same year I was invited by Abu Dhabi Expo to judge ‘UAE Designer of the Year’ competition. In 2010 I also was invited by Ajman’s Preston University to judge their designer of the year competition during their fashion fiesta. Finally I was invited to be a judge at L’Officiel’s Middle East Arab Woman wards for both years 2011 & 2012.
My fashion line SEEN was part of Harper’s Bazaar ‘World of Fashion Arabian Nights’ at Mall of the Emirates. I was also invited to showcase a selection of 18 dresses for the Red Carpet Oriental Fashion Show at Dubai Ladies Club and finally was invited to debut internationally during London Fashion Week by A La Mode International Catwalk Show.
With a huge fan base and buyers I was nominated by GRAZIA Style Awards 2012 for best local designer.
